West Brom's Tony Mowbray keeping faith in Borja Valero

TONY Mowbray has handed Borja Valero a confidence boost by describing him as a ‘top six Premier League’ player – despite leaving him out of the first-team squad against West Ham.

The Spaniard failed to make the starting line-up for the second successive match, and wasn’t even part of the final 18-man cut for Monday’s trip to Upton Park.

But Mowbray has not given up on Borja and believes the midfielder has what it takes to be a success.

He feels Albion’s £4.7million record signing is merely suffering from a dip in form.

“I have got great confidence and faith in Borja Valero,” said Mowbray.

“For me he is a top footballer. I think he is a top six Premier League footballer with his talent and quality but his confidence is a little bit low at the moment because of the fact we have been losing football match after football match.
