Former West Brom boss Gary Megson deserves fans' appreciation - Tony Mowbray

TONY Mowbray hopes Albion fans will give ex-manager Gary Megson a hero’s welcome – before turning their attentions to the Baggies’ survival cause.

Megson returns to The Hawthorns for the first time since his departure four years ago.

Despite his bitter bust-up at the time, the Bolton boss is expected to get a warm reception from the Albion fans.

Mowbray hopes the Baggies supporters will then get behind their team in what is a crucial game.

“I would like to think he (Megson) will get a positive response,” said Mowbray.

“He had two promotions with the club and that is a wonderful achievement.

“I hope the supporters will show appreciation for the good times he had at the football club.

“Then, when the game gets rolling, I hope they will be firmly behind West Brom and cheering us on to a victory.”
