JONATHAN Greening hopes Albion can stay in the Premier League for Tony Mowbray’s sake.
The Baggies captain paid tribute to his manager, whose struggle to keep Albion in the top division will inevitably put him under pressure.
But Greening insists Mowbray’s stock still remains high within Albion’s training ground and revealed that he had even received messages from supporters while shopping.
“All the players and the staff love the gaffer,” said Greening. “Everyone thinks he’s a top guy and a great coach.
“We all believe in the way he likes to play and personally I think it is definitely the right way to play in the Premier League.
“Everyone says there is no right or wrong to play – and there isn’t.
“Stoke, for instance, play a direct game. Wimbledon used to do it for years and they survived in the Premier League for a long time.
“But I think to be a top, top team in the Premier League you have got to play the way he likes to play, like Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool.
