Keeper decision for West Brom boss
May 14 2009 by Chris Lepkowski
TONY Mowbray will have a tough choice this Sunday - whether to keep faith with Dean Kiely or recall first-choice keeper Scott Carson.
Veteran Kiely produced an excellent display during his first Premier League game of the season on Saturday.
Carson missed the game due to a hand injury but should be fit for this Sunday's game against former club Liverpool.
Mowbray will consider the pros and cons before making his decision before the weekend.
"It’s my job to make those decisions and if they are both in contention and training by the weekend then I’ve got to make the decision I feel is right for the team, which is what I’ll do," he said.
"But there are tough decisions every weekend when you’re picking players for teams and having to leave people out.
"It will be no different this week. I have choices to make.
"Dean has had a first-class attitude to his situation this year. He is clearly very positive about playing and has great confidence in his ability.
"He obviously wants to play but he has understood the situation we’re in and he hopefully understood the club’s situation and where we were when we were going into the Premier League.
"He had decisions to make about whether he wanted to play regularly or whether he was happy to stay and sit on the bench and compete for a place in the team.
