Graham Dorrans should be back for West Brom pre-season

ALBION boss Tony Mowbray is confident promising young midfielder Graham Dorrans will recover quickly from a broken foot in time to start pre-season training.

The 22-year-old from Glasgow has been one of the shining lights of Albion’s relegation season and was just establishing himself in Mowbray’s midfield after being on the fringes of the first team following his arrival last summer from Livingston.

He injured his foot against Sunderland and it was believed to be just bruising. An initial scan revealed no serious damage and he played again against Wigan Athletic after missing the clash with Spurs but came off after more discomfort.

However, it was confirmed last week after a second scan that Dorrans had broken a toe.

“He saw a specialist on Monday and looked at the scans together and the specialist is very confident that if we just leave it alone it will heel in a few weeks,” Mowbray said.

“There was no mistake with the first scan. Both x-rays are there to look at and everything is very clear on the first one.

“The second one shows a very definite fracture.

“I’m not pointing any fingers anywhere it’s just one of those things.
