The Tom Ross Column: Where West Brom went wrong

DESPITE having a right good go at it, the Baggies failed in their bid to provide another great escape and stay in the Premier League.

They now face another season in the Championship but don’t bet against them bouncing straight back under the managership of Tony Mowbray.

However, it certainly was not their failure to beat Liverpool that relegated them, although I think they should have beaten the Merseysiders because they created the better chances over the 90 minutes. In the final analysis, it was because they failed to accumulate enough points over the 38 games.

I have been at plenty of games this season where the Baggies have been the better side, creating excellent chances to score, yet losing the match because they suffer from a lack of genuine quality in two key positions.
