Jeremy Peace: West Brom boss has my backing

Tony Mowbray

TONY Mowbray has been backed by Jeremy Peace as Albion start preparations for next season's promotion push.

The Baggies chairman spoke for the first time since Albion's relegation last weekend.

He admitted that some of Mowbray's signings had not worked out but still backed the Albion boss.

But Peace defended Albion's transfer policy, insisting that it was Mowbray who wanted a wage ceiling - a stance the Albion manager has since admitted was incorrect.

Peace is more than happy to spend more on wages but admitted that all parachute payments had been absorbed into first-team squad's wages, which meant there was no more money to be spent.

"It was Tony's decision to keep parity in the dressing room and he used the Ipswich model," Peace told the Birmingham Mail.

"We've done it before - we've had Kanu on big money.
