Celtic to increase interest in West Brom manager Tony Mowbray

"Tony is under contract for the next two years and we fully expect him to remain as our manager."

If Celtic do persist with their pursuit then their main stumbling block will be the settlement figure that Albion will seek for Mowbray, who has two years left on his current deal, along with his assistant Mark Venus and first-team coach Peter Grant, a former Celtic player.

The undisclosed package will pose a huge hurdle for Celtic, who despite their status, are not particularly cash rich at present.

Jeremy Peace is also a tough negotiator and will certainly not make life easy for Celtic should there be a stalemate between the two clubs over any financial aspects.

Craig Levein is the SPL giant’s fall-back option but his lack of Celtic pedigree stands against him, while Motherwell Mark McGhee is no longer being considered.

Coyle has now finally drawn a line under Celtic’s interest and pledged his future to the newly-promoted Turf Moor club.

The Glasgow club are keen to appoint a new manager sooner, rather than later, due to their Champions League qualifier in a little under two months time.
