West Brom in stand-off with Celtic over Mowbray

Tony Mowbray

West Brom were today still no nearer to knowing whether Celtic will pursue Tony Mowbray through the official channels.

The stand-off between the two clubs continues.

Baggies media officials had been inundated with calls from Scottish press chasing the story but those calls have dried up over the last 48 hours.

And, significantly, the betting market has swung towards Burnley’s Owen Coyle over the last 24 hours.

Coyle is due back from his summer break today but Celtic would still need to fork out compensation to him and the Turf Moor club.

Albion chairman Jeremy Peace is still waiting to see if Celtic will match the non-negotiable £2million compensation.

There has been little progress of note, with Celtic seemingly stalling while they consider their options.

If the Parkhead club do pursue Mowbray then they will be sure of getting expansive, passing football next season.
