Jeremy Peace: Why Derek McInnes didn't get West Brom job

"He shaded it but Derek was strong. He's a good lad, he always stays in touch with me and we like him."
Meanwhile, Peace shed more light on Michael Appleton's promotion to first-team coach.
The 33-year-old, who has been linked with managerial vacancies during the last 12 months, has been promoted from youth and reserve team boss to work alongside Di Matteo.
Peace added: "It's a quick career step up for Michael and we'll be looking to progress him.
"It's all happened quickly. He will take the reserves but we will get a new youth coach and he'll be involved with the first team.
"I think Michael felt career wise that he needed to keep pushing himself and we felt this was a good opportunity for him.
"It's good for the club. He's been here for years and the continuity is good for him and the club. It's good for Robbie as well."
