Keeper Scott Carson pledges loyalty to West Brom

“As much as the Premier League is unbelievable, when things are going against you on a Saturday it’s very difficult for the rest of the week,” he said.

“When you’re going home on a Saturday night thinking about getting beaten again it’s hard.

“But this year hopefully we can go home having won games and get that good feeling back. It makes your whole week a lot better.”

Carson also threw his weight behind the newly-appointed Roberto Di Matteo campaign.

“He is pretty quiet and seems really relaxed, and he comes across well to the players,” continued the ex-Liverpool man.

“You know he won’t be too hard all the time. He has been a player himself and he knows it’s better to let the lads be free as long as they give him the respect he deserves.

“He was one of the best players of his time so we’re lucky for him to be our manager.

“Everyone looks up to him and respects him as a player so it will be good to get his thoughts and see how he makes us play.

“The lads have a lot of respect for him and we’re looking forward to the season.”
