Leon Barnett says Youssouf Mulumbu's permanent move to West Bromwich Albion was crucial

LEON Barnett believes the permanent arrival of Youssouf Mulumbu will be crucial to Albion’s troubled defence next season.
Mulumbu has been one of Albion’s best performers of pre-season so far, adding plenty of bite to the midfield but also showing that, technically, he should have few problems in the Championship.
Albion’s defence was the worst in the Premier League last season but showed some improvement following Mulumbu’s introduction to the side during the latter stages of the campaign.
He has now completed his permanent move from Paris Saint Germain and centre-half Barnett feels the Congo international will be vital.
“Youssouf is a defensive midfielder and if he’s come to the club they must have seen something in him to make them think he can be a success,” said Barnett.
