West Brom eyes signing up Premier League players

"Its better to be playing week in, week out at a competitive level than to be playing in the reserves and not getting first team football with your club."

Di Matteo is in no rush to make snap decisions.

He intends to give his existing players a chance before conducting any further business.

"Saturday is one game and after that weve got another 45 games," he added.

"Lets not rush into decisions just for Saturday. We have a very competitive squad here already and we are just trying to move a few things around to make it a bit more balanced and more competitive for the Championship."

Albion yesterday denied claims they had made a bid for Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford, although they did inquire about him a few weeks ago. That deal looks a non-starter.

The Baggies have also asked about Leicester's Joe Mattock, but are not expected to get any joy at this stage.

*DAVID Worrall has joined Bury on loan for a month, with a view to a longer loan deal.
