Joe Mattock aims to make position his own in West Bromwich Albion's first team

Mattock wants Albion to use the 1-0 victory over Forest as a stepping stone to better things.

The England under-21 international accepted they were fortunate but claims such good luck will be imperative.

From a personal point of view, the City Ground victory was particularly enjoyed by Mattock who, as an ex-Leicester player, always deemed Forest to be the Foxes’ main rivals.

“We worked hard for it on Saturday,” he added. “Some of the players played well and put in a good shift.

“It was probably a lucky goal but after working that hard a little bit of luck helps.

“Being from Leicester, Nottingham Forest were the main rivals so getting one over the main rivals was special.

“It’s always good to win away from home early on and hopefully that can be the platform to win a few more away from home this season.

“We know we can play good football as well and hopefully we can get a win on Tuesday.

“Peterborough are a decent side having just come up. We play some great football and they will be looking to catch us and beat us down. We should be good enough to beat them. It’s important to go to teams like that and try to get results.”
