Scott Carson's pride at West Brom captaincy

"Jonas is a very good person and also leads by example.

"He (Scott) gives his best in every training session and every game.

"He’s driven and is hungry for success.

"These are the attributes we’re looking for."

Carson admitted Fulham-bound Greening would be a hard act to follow.

The midfielder will sign on loan for 12 months before completing a £4.5million move next summer.

"At the moment I think we have a very good squad with the players we’ve got in the squad," added Di Matteo.

"He was a big player for this club and as you well know we made every effort to keep him at the club.

"But eventually we felt the deal on the table was a very good deal for us and we decided to sell him.

"He’s been a great professional and a good servant for this club."
