ROBERTO Di Matteo has promised Albion fans an 'exciting, technical and aggressive player' in new £1.4million signing Gonzalo Jara.
The utility man, who celebrates his 24th birthday this Saturday and arrives from Chilean side Colo Colo, has signed a three-year contract with a 12 month option in the Albion's favour.
Jara's arrival follows 14 months of scouting by Albion's foreign recruitment department, not least while he played for Chile's under-23s at last year's Toulon tournament.
His transfer will be rubberstamped once international clearance has been granted and, as a result, Albion fans will need to wait until after the international break to see him in action.
Jara will not be available until Albion's game against Plymouth on September 12 and is due to link up with Chile for their World Cup qualifiers with Venezuela and Brazil next week.
Speaking about his latest signing, Baggies head coach Di Matteo said: "Gonzalo is an exciting, quick, technical and aggressive player.
