West Brom boss is delighted with Gonzala Jara signing
Aug 25 2009 by Chris Lepkowski
"He's a Chile international and very versatile, which will give me good options.
"He's still young and has a strong desire to achieve.
"Gonzalo can play at centre-half, as a defensive midfielder or as a full-back.
"He is a good player who will bring quality to the side.
"Gonzalo wants to go to that next level and prove himself in Europe."
Jara, who has captained his country, has helped Chile move within touching distance of qualification for next year's World Cup.
With the top four qualifying from the South American section, Jara played the full 90 minutes as Chile hammered Bolivia 4-0 in June to move into second - six points clear of fifth.
Jara has figured in 10 of Chile's qualifiers for South Africa 2010, netting in last year's crucial victories over Columbia in Santiago and Venezuela in Puerto La Cruz.
