West Bromwich Albion have tightened up at the back, says Martis

“He is doing a lot of work in front of the back-four and he helps us quite a lot.

“If you get a clean sheet as a back four it shows you are doing your job right. It gives you a confidence boost.”

Martis’ understanding with Jonas Olsson has also helped matters.

“He’s a funny man,” added Martis.

“He’s really competitive like me.

“We talk Dutch on the pitch which makes things easier for me, even though I know English.

“We’re always talking with each other on the pitch.

“He keeps asking me around to play on his guitar – but I tell him I’m busy.

“I can’t see myself playing that kind of music.”
