West Brom boss has not had a chance to make his mark

Roberto Di Matteo

WEST Brom fans will need to wait a while longer before seeing a true Roberto Di Matteo-inspired Baggies side.

Since taking over the club on July 1, the Albion head-coach has had, on average, no more than four days between each game, giving him little chance to stamp his full mark on the players.

But this international break has come at an ideal time, with Albion sat in second spot and with Di Matteo able to instill more of his ideas into those first-team non-international players during the last 12 days or so.

The Baggies take on Plymouth Argyle this Saturday hoping to maintain their unbeaten seven-match run, which includes two Carling Cup victories.

"This break has given us a chance to get some work done with players who are here," Di Matteo told the Birmingham Mail.

"We have some international players, who will hopefully come back healthy today and tomorrow.

"The break has been useful. It's true that it's been full-on from day one.

"This has given us a chance to do some work and assess a few players but I still it's a matter of time to get the full dynamics of all of the players.

"You can't imprint your style on the team in two months but I've been pleased so far.
