West Brom boss reveals why he envies Arsenal's Arsene Wenger

“I would have loved to have had an experience like that but I am still young.

“I have travelled many times to Asia.

“I know Europe well. I have been around a long time and played in Italy and Switzerland and I know Germany and England.

“I am sure it must have been a great experience for him.

“I just like challenges and I also like to increase my knowledge.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow or the next day but yes maybe one day I would go there.

“It could be Japan, China or somewhere like South Korea.”

Di Matteo got his very first taste of ‘management’ against Arsenal when he led out the Chelsea team, alongside Wenger, at the 2002 FA Cup Final at the Millennium Stadium.

He was given the honour by then Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri following his retirement due to a triple leg fracture.

“I thought my managerial career would be over,” joked Di Matteo, referring to Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat.

“We didn’t have the best day. I thought if we lose that day then it won’t be a good omen. Hopefully not.”
