Carson: West Brom can't afford to underestimate Barnsley

Scott Carson

SCOTT Carson insists Albion will be ready to put their season back on track against Barnsley tonight.

The skipper admits Saturday’s defeat to Crystal Palace was perhaps the biggest upset of the season in the Championship so far.

But Carson claims it merely underlined the nature of the league, where unpredictable results are generally the norm.

And he feels that Barnsley being battered 5-2 by QPR on Saturday, along with knowing what Roberto Di Matteo’s men are capable of based on their first eight League games, will pile more pressure on the home side at Oakwell.

Asked whether Barnsley’s defeat at Loftus Road would hinder Albion, Carson replied: “Maybe, but they could be saying the same about us. It’s quite unpredictable in this league.

“I have looked at it from afar in the last few seasons and every team seems capable of beating everybody. Things have gone to plan for us this season and Saturday was the biggest upset but we can’t dwell on it.
