I have work left to do at West Brom - Roman Bednar

Roman Bednar

“Roberto has brought something new,” said Bednar.

“The players see that he knows about the game and they believe in him.

“He has a good partnership with Eddie (Newton); they know the players - they can see the good things and the bad things.

“They are a very strong partnership and they can lead us to the Premier League. I am certain of that.

“I have got unfinished business here, definitely.

“This is my second season in the Championship and I want a second season in the Premier League.

“I would love to that. I want to stay for five, six years and score 50 goals and see Albion established in the Premier League.”

Bednar was particularly upset to find himself a victim of Mowbray’s squad rotation last season.

He scored in victories against Manchester City and Spurs, only to be dropped for the following Premier League game, the derby clash against Villa, in favour of Jay Simpson.

Bednar made an impressive impact during the second half of that game, when he replaced Luke Moore, but he admits that being left out of that game summed up his season.

“Obviously, as the Albion fans will know, the season was not going well for me,” he added.

“I felt I had come into the side, played well.

“I scored against Manchester City and then Tottenham but I was dropped for the next one.

“I didn’t start another game.

“So for that reason, I have some work to do here.”
