"They have got good players and guys like Graham Dorrans – young players and good players who are going to push this club on.
“I hope they are up there at the end of the season - I don't see why they won't be - but I hope we’re up there more."
Beattie was pleased with the reaction he received from home supporters, even though his goal won't help his relationship with his former fans.
“First of all I got a good reception from the fans, which was very much appreciated," he added.
“But my name will be mud now, I’m sure, but even after the game a few stayed behind and I got a clap.
“I’m happy with that but I’m more happy with the three points for Swansea.
"It's funny how you don't really think about scoring goals against old clubs. I still have great respect for West Brom.
"I only left because I wanted to play more.
"I spoke to Roberto Di Matteo and I discussed my future with him. I wanted regular football and this was a good move for me."
