Bednar, meanwhile, remains a doubt for the weekend, due to his back problem.
Newton, speaking on behalf of an unwell Roberto Di Matteo, admitted that the Czech striker would not rushed back.
“He’s touch and go for the weekend," added the Hawthorns No2.
“And we’re not going to panic and rush him back and have him out for two or three months.
"It's his back - it went into spasm and one of his nerves got caught.
"It still hasn't released and you don't want to mess with the spinal cord.
"We are monitoring it and Roman has to rest.
"There's nothing we can do - the nerve has to go back where it should.
"Right now, it's slightly out, all the muscles around it have contracted but it's slowly releasing and now he's walking around the training ground, moaning as usual.
"But we have to let nature take its course. There's no way our physios can do anything."
