Jonas Olsson insists West Brom's best form will come once injuries list clears up

JONAS Olsson insists Albion’s best will come once their injuries have cleared up.

The Baggies slipped to third in the table after their goalless draw with Coventry.

Albion fans jeered Roberto Di Matteo’s men off the pitch but the Swede believes the team’s fortunes will improve once the likes of Roman Bednar, Chris Brunt, James Morrison and Ishmael Miller have returned – even though Miller is not expected back until early 2010.

“If you look at the performances, it’s not easy going to Coventry and playing them off the field,” he said. “We were solid and we had a few chances.

“If we had taken those chances and won 1-0 or 2-0 everybody would say we were back on track since the Reading game, but there are very small margins.

“The longer you play this game the more you realise that it’s not about luck, but there are very small margins and it wasn’t to be on Saturday.

“Hopefully we will get players back and a few of the other teams will get a few injuries and a few suspensions.

“It’s still early and with the players we’re missing, as the season progresses we are going to be a better team. We have Brunt, Morrison, Bednar and Miller missing and all will come back. That’s got to be in our favour.”

Olsson feels all the Championship pace-setters will find themselves bogged down by expectation during the campaign.

“It tells us that every team at the top is struggling a bit,” he added.

“It is a long season and you can’t win them all, but we have been struggling since Middlesbrough.

“I thought we were back on track after the game against Reading but it wasn’t to be. The only really bad game we have played was against Barnsley away.

“For the back four it was good to keep a clean sheet at Coventry. That’s something to build on after Swansea. If we don’t concede we at least leave with one point.”
