West Brom boss: I may let Koren leave

Robert Koren

"I think he is a very good footballer and I wouldn’t want to lose him but we will have to sit down and see what is the best solution for both us and him.

"When I moved here we had a lot of central midfield players, quite a lot of them with similar ability, and that made things more difficult for everybody to get into the team.

"We had some interest for many of our players but we didn't want to lose anybody and those we sold we thought we could replace."

Koren's first-team prospects will not be helped by Youssouf Mulumbu's expected return from a minor injury.

The DR Congo international should be fit for Saturday's game at Leicester.

Roman Bednar also hopes to be fully fit after coming through Tuesday's reserve-team win against Burton, which Albion won 10-0.

Bednar scored Albion's seventh, with Chris Wood grabbing two himself - just two days after fellow strikers Luke Moore and Simon Cox scored for the first-team.

Di Matteo added: "As I said on Saturday, after the game, we need our strikers to be scoring goals for us.

"It’s good if they score in training and in the reserves.

"It’s important our strikers score goals wherever possible because it gives you a bit of confidence."
