West Brom boss has no worries about Joe Mattock

Joe Mattock

Speaking about Mattock's displays at full-back, Di Matteo added: "We were looking for a solid left-back and I think we got a solid left-back.

"He is a great defender who gets involved in the offensive action and I think he will get better with playing games and adding experience.

"He is only 19. I am pretty happy with the progress he has made."

Albion will be reunited with ex-assistant and brief caretaker boss Nigel Pearson, former first-team coach Craig Shakespeare and Lloyd Dyer, who played such a major role in the Baggies' promotion of 2003/04.

Di Matteo has not been surprised to see Leicester among the front-runners having seen them in action last season when he was manager of MK Dons.

"They've had a good start but they are a good team," he continued.

"I watched them down at Loftus Road last Friday and was very impressed with them.

"I knew them from before but they've added some experience, they are solid and a good side.

"He's changed a few, but not many.

"He's got Wayne Brown in there, Berner was there last year, Wellens played last year, N'Guessan.

"Matty Fryatt scored against us (MK Dons) last season. He seems to have to goalscoring touch. He's scored quite a few and has the sniff for a goal."
