Royal Mint produce medal honouring the late Sir Bobby Robson

“Bobby’s thirst for life was unquenchable and I’m sure he would be delighted to know his foundation will benefit as a result of sales of this beautiful medal.”

An Albion club spokesman added: “The club paid a full tribute to the life and career of Sir Bobby at our Coca-Cola Championship game with Newcastle in August.

“West Bromwich Albion fans also showed their respects by penning hundreds of heartfelt messages in a Book of Condolence. Sir Bobby’s memory will live on at The Hawthorns and the club is delighted The Royal Mint is commemorating a man who was loved and adored throughout the nation with this special medal.”

England ace Gary Linekar, who played for Robson in the semi-final team of 1990, said: “I feel very proud to have played for the only football manager to be honoured by the Royal Mint.

“His warmth extended beyond the bounds of football and he will be sorely missed by the whole nation.”
