West Brom: Let's pile on the points - Brunt

Chris Brunt

CHRIS Brunt has urged West Brom to rack up the points now - to ensure there is no need for a late dash for the finishing line.

The Baggies winger was part of the side which was in fourth spot and showing signs of stuttering in the final few weeks of the 2007/08 campaign.

But Tony Mowbray's men recovered from their FA Cup semi-final defeat to win four of their last six games, drawing twice and moving up from fourth in the table to become title winners.

Brunt has no desire to go through the same nail-biting process again and hopes Albion can maintain their pace at the top of the Championship.

And the Northern Ireland man, who returns to former club Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow, hopes to put his know-how to good use.

"We need to bring experience of winning games, success," said Brunt.

"The division was very tight a couple of years ago and will be again this year.

"At one stage we dropped to fifth and sixth so it's important to keep getting the points, no matter how badly you'e playing - we only really kicked on towards the end.

"The Championship is one of those leagues where you are only one or two defeats away from dropping down a few places."
