ROBERTO Di Matteo has no qualms that Scott Carson can respond with a good performance tonight following his errors against QPR.
The Albion keeper was singled out by fans following his early howler during Saturday’s trip to Loftus Road, which enabled Jay Simpson to open the scoring.
There were also question marks over his role in QPR’s third goal, with Akos Buzsaky’s long-range free-kick bouncing over his head.
But Di Matteo believes his captain has the ability and mental strength to ensure he performs well against Sheffield Wednesday tonight.
The boss feels Carson has been an integral part of the club’s promotion challenge.
“I am confident he will respond well,” Di Matteo told the Birmingham Mail.
“As a goalkeeper you get exposed if you make a mistake and if you do make a mistake it’s usually a goal.
“But he’s saved us many points this season.
“Strikers can miss goals, defenders can make mistakes.
