West Brom: Jerome Thomas expects Graham Dorrans to become a marked man
JEROME Thomas believes Graham Dorrans will escape being a marked man next season because he is so slippery.
“I think opponents will have plans for him but he is a good player and an intelligent player who can mix up his game,” Thomas said.
“He is not the kind of player that another team can have a gameplan against because he is so versatile. I think he’ll be wanting to lay a marker early and continuing where he left off, which is scoring goals and creating goals, and the same goes for the rest of us.”
Much is expected of the young Scot as Albion head into the big time and winger Thomas is sure he will deliver.
“I think he is ready. I think he was the best midfielder in the Championship last year.
“He just needs to get a good pre-season under his belt and it’s good that we’ve got a long rest because he played a lot of games last year.
“It will be good for him to rest and recuperate and come back and pick up where he left off.
“I think he’s happy. He’s had a good season but at the same time he has to prove it in the Premier League now.”
Meanwhile, teenager Chris Wood has been given a month to recharge the batteries after his heroics for New Zealand.
Wood is settling into a new home with girlfriend Mel after arriving back from South Africa.
“Summers don’t get much bigger than this – a World Cup and a new house,” he said. “Fortunately, I don’t have to report in for pre-season training until July 24 so now I’m going to take advantage of some time to relax and recharge the batteries after a long, hard season.
“I realised the other day, that I’ve actually been playing football at various levels, non-stop, since July 2008.
“Last summer I was playing in the Confederations Cup and had no break between seasons.”
