Challenge awaits for West Brom skipper

SCOTT Carson gets called ‘Skipper’ around the Albion training ground as he prepares for the biggest challenge of his Baggies career yet – keeping his place in the team.
Boaz Myhill’s arrival has put the Albion goalkeeper’s place under pressure for the first time since his arrival.
Although Dean Kiely has remained a constant in Carson’s time at B71, realistically he’s always been a steady No.2 – ready to step into the breach if and when needed.
But Myhill’s £1.5million move from Hull has put Carson under pressure to perform. The England international knows that a poor performance could open the door for Myhill.
“I have come back this year fitter than ever,” said Carson.
“I know there is going to be somebody pushing me now and Boaz is a good goalkeeper so I am going to be working as hard as ever to make sure I can keep going on.
“I’m confident in my ability and I need to keep going, proving to the gaffer that I’m good enough.
“But I know I have to perform well.
“Last season was probably my best season.
“It was a hard season when I first signed. We never had a steady back four and that made it difficult.
“Last season I felt I was was more consistent and I felt really good. I am hoping to carry that on.
