West Bromwich Albion: Roberto Di Matteo makes it two in a day but dampens early expectations as midfielder Somen Tchoyi signs up

ROBERTO Di Matteo finally got his man last night with the capture of Somen Tchoyi from Red Bull Salzburg.

The Baggies had to fight through a forest of red tape to land the 27-year-old.

Tchoyi will not be risked against Sunderland today but stands by to make his Premier League bow at Anfield next Sunday.

The Baggies’ Italian head coach will be in a brighter mood having earlier in the day celebrated the capture of Lokomotiv Moscow’s Peter Odemwingie.

But Di Matteo has been quick to dampen early expectations of his midfield powerhouse.

“It’s been a drawn-out process due to circumstances out of the club’s control but all the hard work has paid off and I’m delighted to welcome Somen to the club,” said Di Matteo.

“He is a powerful midfielder who will bring a physical presence to our team and also be a real threat at set pieces.

“Somen has all the attributes to play in the Barclays Premier League but I think it is important we don’t expect too much too soon from him as he will need a little time to adapt to English football.
