West Brom: Chris Brunt on the secret to West Brom's success

Chris Brunt

CHRIS Brunt looked ahead to tomorrow’s visit of Fulham by insisting that he was happy for Albion to stay ‘under the radar’ of the Big Four-obsessed pundits.

The Baggies have been largely ignored outside of the West Midlands despite their excellent start to the campaign.

Their draw at Manchester United and victories against Arsenal and Manchester City were attributed to opposition deficienices, such as goalkeeping error and, in City’s case, Roberto Mancini fielding a weakened team - even though it wasn’t mentioned that Di Matteo himself made 10 changes to his side.

Jonas Olsson, speaking earlier this week, admitted he was fed-up with Albion’s performances being discredited.

Brunt is not surprised and is not unduly concerned - provided the Baggies maintain their form.

“When ‘little West Brom’ are getting results here and there it’s a natural response for everybody to say the big clubs haven’t played well,” he said.

“But I think Jonas (Olsson) has got a point.

“We deserved our win at the Emirates and we deserved our point at Old Trafford and we probably could have got more from the Spurs game if you take away the first 20 minutes.

“Every game we’ve played, barring the Chelsea game on the opening day of the season, we have done well in.

“I think we definitely deserve to be where we are and we could have had more points.

“It’s only natural with the size of clubs that Manchester United and Arsenal are and the world class players they have got that people pick faults with them.
