West Bromwich Albion: Roberto Di Matteo - We'll fight to final whistle

ROBERTO Di Matteo insists the goal at Albion remains to keep the season alive until the very last game.

Albion are 11th heading into today’s clash at Wigan but the Italian is not getting carried away.

“We have a lot of work to do. We are still making too many mistakes,” he said.

“The fans can enjoy themselves but not us forget our identity – who we were, what our aim is, and where we come from.

“It is a very difficult league, very difficult league and we are very happy with the points we have now.

“But it is a crazy league with unexpected results and that is probably going to be the way it is going to go.

“There will be lots of twists and turns. In one week it can change so much.

“You look at a comparison to two years ago and we have more points now than last time after 19 games.

“So we have given ourselves a good start but we need to follow it up.

“If we are to be in a position on the last day to have our own destiny in our own hands that will be a first for this club. It has not happened before.

“We know we need to improve but it is not going to be 12 or 13 games it might take a whole season to improve.”
