West Brom: Brunt remains a major doubt for Albion

Chris Brunt

CHRIS Brunt remains a major doubt for Saturday’s trip to Everton, according to Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo.

The Northern Ireland winger returned from international duty with a groin injury, forcing him out of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Stoke.

And Brunt, who watched the Potters game from The Hawthorns press box, is still struggling to be ready for the game at Goodison Park.

Di Matteo said: “We’re hopeful he might recover for the next game.

“But he’s still a doubt and we’ll have to see how this week goes.

“He’s an important player for us. He gives us a lot.

“Our job is to lift the players. There are still so many points to play for.

“We will feel better once we get those.

“We need to eliminate the small mistakes and get the breaks.

“At the moment we’re not doing enough to get points or win games.

“We will try and get Brunty back to help us.

“We knew it would be a difficult season for us so it’s one of these where we have to work through it, do the right things and maybe do something.

“We are making mistakes, which is costing us hugely. It’s not good enough.”

Di Matteo will spend this week trying to lift a set of players who have taken just one point from a possible 15.
