EDDIE Newton has warned that Ipswich will be “dangerous” opponents for Albion in the Carling Cup tonight, despite the two teams’ contrasting form last weekend.
After the Baggies recorded an outstanding 4-1 win at Everton on Saturday, Ipswich were on the wrong end of that scoreline on Sunday when they travelled to Norwich for a Championship East Anglian derby.
All the signs are favourable for Albion to come through an awkward quarter-final in Suffolk and reach the last four of the competition. But assistant manager Newton knows that Ipswich will look upon tonight’s game as an ideal opportunity to put that derby thrashing behind them.
“It is a dangerous game without a shadow of a doubt,” he said. “Ipswich want to get to a final just as much as we do and it might be a great break from the league for them.
