West Brom: Nicky Shorey confident Baggies can defeat Manchester United again

Nicky Shorey

NICKY Shorey says Albion can produce another shock and inflict a first defeat of the season on Manchester United.

Roberto Di Matteo’s men have slumped to three straights losses and will be seeking a first league win over United in almost 27 years without the suspended Gonzalo Jara and Gabriel Tamas.

But full-back Shorey says confidence remains high with joys at Arsenal and at United still in the memory.

“We’ve lost three on the bounce but we’re confident we can go into Saturday’s game and win. That’s the mentality we’ve got to have,” he said.

“This is the league we’re in, and it’s a tough league no matter who you’re playing.

“Blackburn showed that and it’s going to be no different playing Man Utd.”

Albion’s last league win against United came in March 1984 when Bryan Robson and Remi Moses were in the receiving end of a 2-0 Hawthorns defeat.

Shorey says the key is to remain focused.
