NICKY Shorey has urged Albion to continue their pursuit of Villa striker John Carew.
Norwegian international Carew was primed to complete a move before the weekend, subject to a medical, after all was agreed between Albion and Villa.
But Emile Heskey’s dismissal against Sunderland has ruled him out for three games and means Carew might still be needed by Villa. As things stand, Albion will resume their search for other strikers, although Carew remains on the radar in the meantime.
Left-back Shorey knows the Norwegian well from their time together at Villa Park.
He gave an insight into what Albion could expect from the giant 31-year-old marksman.
“John on his day is tough to mark,” said Shorey about Carew, scorer of 52 goals in 132 games for Villa.
“He is a really good player and a really nice bloke as well so he would fit in well.
“Put it this way, I wouldn’t like to mark him. He is a really good lad and wherever he goes I am sure he will do well.
“On his day no-one in the Premier League would want to mark him so that says it all really.
“He can score goals with his head and his feet as he has proven over the years.
