Chris Brunt speaks out about 'injustices' against West Brom

WEST Bromwich Albion's recent bad form. Discuss.

Chris Brunt

A tendency for mistakes, a ratio of two goals conceded per game, poor all-round play or abject refereeing.

You could make a case for all of those but the Baggies can do something about all but the last.

However, it’s the one they can do little about which has been eating away at Albion staff and players this week.

Gary Neville’s lunge on Graham Dorrans was bad enough – the lateness and clumsiness of the Manchester United defender’s challenge made his decision to quit one of little surprise.

Jermaine Jones brought down Peter Odemwingie at Blackburn. A free-kick, but no penalty.

And there was the Gary Caldwell hand-ball on Tuesday against Wigan.

Conspiracy? A refereeing fatwa against West Bromwich Albion?

Probably neither, but it prompted both Roberto Di Matteo and Chris Brunt to speak out.

Di Matteo’s reaction is understandable. It’s his name above the managerial door.

On such decisions results are often dictated.

And we all know what happens if results aren’t good enough.

Brunt, meanwhile, chose to speak out because he feels genuine injustice.

The current captain has not been impressed although, as he pointed out, securing a spot-kick means nothing unless you convert it.
