NICKY Shorey has revealed his joy at being back in the first-team fold at Albion.
The left-back has been restored to the starting XI after losing his place under previous boss Roberto Di Matteo.
No reason was ever given for Shorey’s absence, with the ex-Baggies manager merely claiming that Marek Cech was worthy of his place over Shorey.
Shorey was always likely to benefit following Roy Hodgson’s arrival having played for him at Fulham.
The ex-Villa and Reading defender said: “I’m really happy to be back in the side.
“I’ve played the last three or four games now and I’m delighted to be given that chance to play again.
“It was frustrating before when I was out of the team.
“Some managers like different players. A new manager comes in and people get a chance, which is nice to see.
“Look at Abou (Meite). He’s back in the side and I think he has taken it so far and done really well.
“It is pleasing because he has always been a good part of the dressing room and the lads love him.
