ALBION are happy for Youssouf Mulumbu and Peter Odemwingie to remain under the national radar.

The key duo were not included on the list of PFA’s player-of-the-year candidates, despite the presence of West Ham’s Scott Parker and Charlie Adam, of Blackpool.

Both Albion players have produced consistent performances this season.

Coach Michael Appleton believes they can take great pride in their displays, even though adulation will not extend much beyond their own supporters.

“We’ve had that in the past, with the likes of Chris Brunt and, more so, at the start of this season with Graham Dorrans,” Appleton said.

“With the season he had last season, we’re quite happy for the players to get their own little success in and around the club.

“Ultimately, we want to keep all the players and don’t want to have to sell them to so-called bigger clubs.

“Hopefully they’re going to kick this club on and make it bigger and better than it is already.

“With someone like Charlie Adam there was a lot of media speculation about whether he was going to stay at Blackpool or to go a big club.

“The media coverage he has this season has been far greater than maybe someone like Youssouf, Peter or Brunty.

“The more media-led a player is the higher profile he has as a player and person.
