SIMON Cox insists Albion will not get bogged down by their opening-day mauling when they take on Chelsea at The Hawthorns this afternoon.
The Baggies were beaten 6-0 on live TV in August.
Although they recovered their form in the following weeks, the nature of that loss cast major initial doubts over their credentials to survive in the Premier League.
Cox came on as a second-half substitute for Graham Dorrans and he believes the game at Stamford Bridge was merely a one-off.
The 23-year-old said: “I came on for about 20 minutes. It wasn’t nice. I remember coming on and within two minutes I hadn’t even touched the ball and they had scored again.
“It was one of those games where everything went right for them and everything went wrong for us.
“But we play them under different management and under different circumstances so let’s hope there is a different result.”
He continued: “We’re on good form right now and we’ve got good results under the gaffer.
“If we end up getting beaten today we’re not going to be dis-heartened by that.
“At the start of the season we got a bit of a spanking from Chelsea but our season started in the Sunderland game.
“No-one expected us to get a result at Chelsea and I don’t really think anyone is expecting us to get a result against them this time.
‘‘But with the form we’re in now, why not?
“We go into the game with no fear and we’re high on confidence.”
