Youssouf Mulumbu scoops award from West Bromwich Albion Disabled Supporters Club

YOUSSOUF Mulumbu will need a cleaner at this rate – if he hasn’t already got one.

A succession of man-of-the-match gongs this season has now been complemented with the Disabled Supporters Club player-of-the-year award.

The DR Congo midfielder is delighted with his latest honour, with Jonas Olsson and Chris Brunt just pipped to the award.

Mulumbu, a bargain-basement signing from Paris Saint-Germain just two years ago, has become a major part of the club’s near-successful battle against the drop. And although Mulumbu might not be better than Kaka just yet – despite what Albion fans think – his contribution has certainly been noted.

He said: “This is one of the best trophies I have won so I’d like to say thank you to the fans who voted for me. It was great to meet so many of them.

“Also, I’d like to thank my team-mates because without them I wouldn’t have won this award.

“The way the fans have supported me is a great thing.

“When they sing my name, it gives me a big boost. I’m very happy but my work isn’t finished.

“We still have five games to go and I will be giving my best in those matches to try to win as many of them as possible.”

Mulumbu collected his award at the ninth annual WBADSC open-day on Thursday.

WBADSC members watched a full training session from the East Stand’s disabled facilities before being meeting the players and being treated to a meal in the Richardson Suite.
