JONAS Olsson heads into back-to-back Euro 2012 qualifiers claiming that West Bromwich Albion’s survival can only help his international ambitions.
The 28-year-old has been capped twice by Sweden and hopes to be part of the squad which takes on Moldova and Finland early next month.
Sweden are second in Group E, level on points with Hungary who have played two more games.
Leading the group are the Netherlands, who are nine points ahead of the Swedes.
Olsson is hopeful that being a regular in the Premier League can aid his double ambition of helping Albion to establish themselves as long-term members of the top flight and travelling to Poland and Ukraine for next season’s tournament.
But he admits that club business takes greater significance for now.
“We are second, after Holland, and this could boost potential to maybe play in the Championships next summer,” said Olsson.
“I’ve been saying that for a few seasons but I’m not the pick of the coach at the moment.
“Of course, playing in the Premier League can only help and it’s better playing there than in the Championship.
“I will always be in the picture playing in the Premier League.
“It’s something I dream about but I don’t think about it too much because you can only influence it by playing well here.
“If I can play for my country then it’s a bonus.
“But West Bromwich Albion is where I am for about 330 days, this is where I live, my employer, and where I need to perform.
“If the rest comes then I’ll be happy but it’s more important to do well here.”
Albion hope to make more inroads into potential transfer deals this week.
