West Brom: Zoltan Gera injury boost for Baggies

Zoltan Gera

ALBION hope to get a clearer picture about a possible return date for Zoltan Gera.

The midfielder, who has yet to play since rejoining the club in the summer, has been struggling with a foot injury.

The Hungarian was due to meet a leading specialist yesterday in Holland to hopefully get the all-clear to continue his rehabilitation.

Gera underwent surgery on his foot during the summer but an unrelated problem arose.

Now Albion hope he will be allowed to continue with his recovery.

“Zoltan has trained well and it was just a confirmation when he saw the specialist,” said boss Roy Hodgson.

“Hopefully it’ll be a case of the doctor saying he’s okay, the scans showing he’s okay and the top specialist in the world will hopefully say he’s okay.

“I think the first step for him will be to get a game or two under his belt.

“It will depend a lot, of course, on what luxury I have in terms of the players I have around me.

“At the moment, in midfield we have a lot of good players competing.

“It’s a hard decision who to play and who not to play.

“The fact he’s not available is not a major problem.

“But, who knows, that could change.
