West Brom: Steven Reid ready for trip to Aston Villa after undergoing surgery

STEVEN Reid will be fit for Saturday’s derby against Villa after undergoing minor hand surgery.

The Albion man went under the knife following Sunday’s victory against Wolves, having injured his hand during the game at Sunderland.

Reid has opted against responding to barbed comments from Lee Cattermole last week following that game at the Stadium of Light.

Reid was on the receiving end of a Cattermole challenge, with the Sunderland player claiming later that the Albion man ‘rolls around like a girl’.

Baggies boss Roy Hodgson, however, dismissed those claims.

“I don’t care one little bit what Lee Cattermole says,” he said.

“Players do themselves an enormous disservice making journalists’ jobs easier by giving them little headlines but are, in actual fact, bringing the game into less repute than it should have.

“It’s obvious that Steven Reid is not a big girl.

“He is a very brave, strong and determined character as Cattermole has a reputation of being so himself. What we’re talking about is a challenge from the referee that can go either way.
