West Brom: I want us to sign Liam Ridgewell says Ben Foster

Ben Foster

BEN Foster believes Birmingham City defender Liam Ridgewell would be a ‘fantastic signing’ for West Brom.

Albion have had two offers rejected for Ridgewell, the most recent of which came just over a week ago.

The Baggies have until Tuesday night to decide whether they will pursue for the ex-Villa man, although talks between the clubs have continued.

Foster, who is on loan from St Andrew’s, has fully endorsed Albion’s pursuit of the defender, who can play at left-back and centre-half.

He feels Albion need new faces, not least as they are still suffering with injuries.

“Liam would be a fantastic signing,” said Foster, speaking at yesterday’s event to mark Sporting Club Albion being chosen by the FA to host the West Midlands’ Blind Centre of Excellence.

“I read an itnerview from the gaffer (Roy Hodgson) saying that Liam is ‘interesting’ because he can fill two positions.

“That’s exactly right, Liam played left back for the majority of the season and filled in at centre-half.

“He’s a great player, I get on well with him and he’s someone I’ve kept in touch with since leaving at the end of last season.
