West Brom: Why the Baggies should put the transfer window to one side

Albion’s home record has been woeful this season. Two home league victories is an appalling return.

Which is why Roy Hodgson – though he’ll probably pick a ‘weaker’ side – needs to treat tomorrow’s game seriously.

A win against Norwich would help restore pride and confidence to a side which seems to wilt under pressure, both on and off the pitch, at B71.

These days, visiting teams come to defend and hit Albion on the break.

And, right now, Hodgson’s side are struggling to find a formula to overcome that quirk.

A victory against Norwich – or at least an encouraging performance – would give the Albion coaching staff some insight into how they can tackle the pressures of playing at home.

It’s quite unusual for a Hodgson side to be prosper away, yet stumble along at home.

And then there is the FA Cup.

With Manchester City out of the way, and Liverpool or Manchester United set to exit, one doesn’t know how the draw will pan out.

Albion fans might look back on their last-four defeat to Portsmouth in 2008 with some regret and anguish.

Yet the cup run galvanised that side and helped it to a title success.

Hodgson might not agree, but an FA Cup run would be good for Albion.
