West Brom: Latest on Shane Long's injury ahead of Wolves game

Shane Long

SHANE Long’s hopes of making Sunday’s derby at Wolves will be decided in the next 48 hours - with Graham Dorrans also hoping to recover from a hip problem.

Albion striker Long has been struggling with chest pains and discomfort for the last week or so.

The Republic of Ireland man is training, albeit not yet with the first-team.

Whether he will be ready for Sunday’s lunchtime kick-off at Molineux remains to be seen.

Roy Hodgson is still not sure whether Long and Dorrans will be fit in time.

“Shane seems to be making big strides forward,” said the Albion boss.

“He feels a lot better but he’s had two quite serious knockbacks so we have to unfortunately take it a little bit easier with him.

“We can’t throw him straight back in there because first it was the back and second it was chest pains.

“We were hoping it would clear up earlier but it hasn’t and we just have to take it day by day.

“But he’s making a lot of progress and he’s a lot better than he was at the end of last week, it’s just a gradual thing.

“It’s too early to rule him in or out for Wolves.

“He’s always training but not with the team.
